The Miner County Historical Society / Rural Life Museum recently received a special donation from a grandson of former Sheriff Bert Bradbury this past week: the badge worn by Sheriff Bradbury during his tenure as Miner County Sheriff during the early 1940s.
Albert Rill Bradbury, most commonly referred to as Bert Bradbury, was born in Miner County on April 21, 1891, to William S. Bradbury and Alice (Swegle) Bradbury. He married Mary Theophilus in 1911 and was very involved in community activities throughout his life. Bradbury began serving as Miner County's Sheriff at the age of 50 in 1941 and served until 1944. He passed away in 1975.
The badge is a very welcomed addition to the museum, as it helps provide a glimpse into the past and will do its part in preserving our history for generations to come.
