GENEALOGY RESEARCH

Ancestry.Com: The museum has purchased a subscription to Ancestry.com for use by our members. This subscription will allow members to research  their family history in the Ancestry.com website.  While there is free access to some of the Ancestry.com website, the more detailed information is only available to subscription holders.

The museum board would be happy to assist you or complete the research for you, for a small donation to the museum.  Please send an email to minercountyhistoricalsociety@gmail.com for more information.

Miner County South Dakota Genealogy Website:  In June 1996, a group of genealogists organized the South Dakota Comprehensive Genealogy Database. The idea was to provide a single entry point where collected databases would be indexed and cross-linked, for all counties in South Dakota.  That way, if an individual was found in more than one county, they could be located in the index.

The website provides access to these search databases: Bibliography, Churches, Courthouse Address and Phone, Farm Directory, Homestead Records, Veterans Records, and WPA Cemetery Project, among others.

South Dakota Genealogy Website: This website includes links to a variety of South Dakota resources, including South Dakota  naturalization records, Civil War Veterans, Newspaper Index, Native American Research, and county-by-county searches.
(The Miner County link is included above.)
